Thread: RAM troubles

  1. Just a thought, is it possible the extra RAM caused the power supply to go over it's limit?

Edit: And on an additional note, it does appear that my BIOS screen is definately fucked up. Any ideas why and how to fix it?

  2. Extra ram hardly uses any extra power. I seriously doubt that it would cause stability problems by adding more, unless you were already under powering your computer. Try and find out what power it is giving. It says right on the side of it, you just need to take the side of your case off.

I have never heard of a BIOS being messed up before.
However, you can update your BIOS, but to do that you need to know the exact model of your motherboard, and go and download the new one from the manufacturors website. I don't know if that would work or not, but it's worth a shot perhaps.

  3. How do I find out what motherboard model I am running? Would there be a sticker or something on the actual component itself?

I have no idea where the user manaul for this thing is, since I've bought it I've moved twice and both times I moved I had to cram all of my possessions inside my car so it's likely it got thrown out.

  4. There might be a logo somewhere, but a sticker I doubt.
Also if you can get it to load windows, get a program called cpu-z which will tell you all the details. Use google to find it, I'm lazy right now.
