    Metal Saga

GAME SUMMARY: <taken from Atlus USA>

In the not so distant future… Desperate to find a way to save the earth from pollution, mankind created a gigantic supercomputer and named it Noah. Noah’s solution, however, was to exterminate its creators. In a matter of days, civilization fell to terrifying weapons and monsters created by Noah. This cataclysmic event came to be known as the Great Destruction.
As the years passed, the number of human survivors grew, slowly but steadily. They formed villages and towns, living off of technology that they were able to salvage from the piles of wreckage.

Among the survivors were those who rose up to fight Noah's robotic henchmen. To track down and eliminate these threats to humanity, they utilized the most powerful weapons still operable after the Great Destruction—tanks! As a sign of respect, people nicknamed them “hunters.”

Noah, the cause of the Great Destruction, was in fact destroyed by one such hunter. However, its ruthless offspring still roamed the world, striking fear in people’s heart.

Now, a young man prepares to set foot into the deadly desert wasteland to make a name for himself, as did his father, a veteran hunter...

I believe this came out last week. Who's got it and who is going to get it? For those that already have it, what do you think? I've heard you can DL the entire game to the PS2 hard drive. Is this true? And if so, does it decrease load times? Secondly, I heard you can paint the vehicles. How much freedom do they give you on paint jobs? Can you paint the party members clothes as well?

  2. Few hours in and so far it's pretty goddamn boring anf feels kind of... I dunno, unfocused. The monster design can be interesting at times, atleast.
    A is for action

  3. I like the story:

The world: "Hey, Noah, we created you, now would you help us out please and solve world pollution?"

Noah: "You bet. Hang on a sec."

    ...

The world: "Hey, what are you doing over there?"

Noah: "Oh, me? I'm creating machines that will spell the complete destruction of the human race."

The world: "... Ah, son of a bitch."

Nevertheless, me thinks I can resist this one. Those dogs are really annoying.

Those must be rhetorical questions because it sounds like you already know the answers. BTW, what's the deal with posting the Japanese instead of NA boxart?

    Your thread sucks.

  6. The NA box art blows. There's tons of better character art in the instruction booklet. I hate to make fun of whoever won that fan art contest, but geez, really.

I can't tell you why i enjoy it exactly, but i do. It's unfocused, but that doesn't make it bad. It's just that the story isn't shoved down your throat. You just learn pieces of it from other characters. It's old-style rpg in a way that we never get anymore and doesn't completely suck.
Painting-yes, lots of freedom, but PS2 controller input sucks. No clothes.
If the load times were cut, it'd be 20 out of 10 points. The battles aren't too frequent, they just don't require much strategy.
The vehicles really make the game. They're fun to customise and they add something unique.
Dialogue, best ever. You will lol, imo, possibly lyao or rotfl.

I have to say rent it or wait for a price drop, unless it really sounds like it appeals to you. It's not the type of game most people will have fun with, but there are those that will. Obviously it's not a reviewer's game, but there are plenty of those that are great despite poor reviews.
    Donk

  7. I am interested but not all full MSRP. Maybe when it drops to $20.

Shit, I reserved it too. Anyone know if EB has any bring in two/three used games and get an extra $10 store credit coupons?

  9. I didn't mean it like that.
Everyone please rent it and buy it if you like it. ):>
It's well crafted and extremely well written. It's a solid chunk of game, it's just not such for most people. $50 for my enjoyment so far (9 hours into it) has been well worth it.
    Donk

  10. Wow, the auto text editing is really cute. When did that start?

Can I say "shut up" if I want?
