No, I'm not confusing the DC with the saturn. I remember reading about the saturn's history and where SoJ had the saturn we know in development and SoA had one more comparable to the playstation. I would provide links, but it seems like the web site i saw it at is no more. So i guess that story doesn't exist.

I remember the story of Saturn initially designed as a 2D machine until PS1's specs were released, at which point they added additional 'off-the-shelf' parts to compensate. I also remember SoA scrambling to develop the 32X under SoJ's orders, although SoA had to find out for themselves that the Saturn was in development in Japan. Too bad you don't have a link to offer.

Sega CD and 32x killed Sega. It was just confusing and there was too much shit. Saturn came out very shortly after the 32x, didn't look much better, and cost $100 more than the PS1. It's obvious what happened after that.

It's funny how horribly Sega missed the mark. Their idea was to crudely tack CD storage and a 32-bit upgrade onto the successful Genesis console.. when all they should have done was make a Saturn with Genesis BC.
