I am in the market for a laptop, I prefer it to be light (less than 5 lbs preferably), but it might cost too much so if it is cheap and good, then I don't care.

Could you give us a budget, tell us what you will be using it for, how big the screen would be ideally.
If it's just for office work they're cheap, but if you're doing video editting or graphics designing, you need lots of ram and a good video card which will bump the price up.
Get a Macbook Pro.. it's pricey, but oooooohhhh so worth it. And the 15" ones are just over 5 pounds.

Used primarily for word processing, excel spreadsheet and internet browsing. No need for gaming or any heavy duty processing.
Screen size doesn't matter as much as it being light
