Thread: the pc at e3

  1. Think they'll slap together an Oblivion DX10 edition, like GOTY edition or something? I'd pay another $50 for that sweet water

  2. When it comes out, how much do you think you can trade the current version for?

I've had my eye on Prey for a while now, I'm wondering if that'll include any additional features for this...
"Your soul better belong to Jesus, mmm-mmmmm..... cause your ass belongs to me!"

  3. Anyone have any good links to UT2007 info from E3? All I got was some crap from Planet Unreal. A couple of the same shots I've already seen and an E3 flyer stating that its coming in 2007(well no shit).

guy at work just got his daughter a dell, 19" lcd, p4 3.0 a gig of ram and an x800xl (or whatever atis shit is called nowadays) for $700. great fucking deal if you ask me for prebuilt.
Consider me officially brought over to that team as well.

I just bought an $80 graphics card for a two year old, $300 dollar disposable computer. Not even for the primary purpose of gaming. Yet at a grand total of $380, the only game I've tried that didn't run like a dream at FULL SETTINGS is Oblivion (which still runs just fine.) Compare that to a $600 PS3, or even the 360 retard pack.

It was one thing to compare the cost of PC gaming to consoles in fucking 1998, when a console setup was $150 (system), maybe a memory card, controllers, and whatever TV you have around. It's completely different when the console alone (not to mention HDTV, wireless, etc) is nearly as much or more as a functional prebuilt. Plus, it's not like you'll be buying a whole new system when you upgrade. If you don't have to have the hottest shit the day it ships (and most games don't utilize it) PC gaming is much, much cheaper in the long run.

I also think that while fewer PC games interest me, the ones that do give me a hell of a lot more value for my dollar than most console games do.
To boldly go where lots of men have gone before...

  5. I went from a P3 600 to a machine that could run Half-Life 2 pretty damn well (Ath XP 3200+, 9800 Pro, gig of ram...) for about $400.

$3000 setups and $600 video cards my ass. You just need to not hop on the newest of new hardware.

  6. Another game I forgot to mention was Company of Heroes. World War 2 RTS... yea yea yea, but bear with me. It's Relic, and they know how to design RTS games. They're also using tons of physics effects, destructible environments, and advanced AI to make the game world more dynamic and interesting. Look at the previews and I think that's easy to see... if anyone is familiar with AOE3 you know how physics can enhance the genre and this game revs it up hardcore.

This game sounds rediculous. I'll have to keep an eye on it now.

I have like a $600 rig that plays Oblivion great with settings maxed. You can game on a budget.
