I'm curious, what are the good things about a cruise?
I went on one 6 years back just for 2 nights, and the room had 4 of us in on bunk beds, which isn't my idea of a vacation. The food wasn't great, and it was way overpriced. The only highlights were the stop-offs.

Cruises are designed for stupid Americans that want to see the surface of 50 different places instead of going in-depth in one.
like 7 and a half total (not including layover in San Fran) coming from Seattle. the flight was ok except for the SCREAMING CHILDREN one seat ahead. You know we're not ready for those.. things because we were both suggesting violent manners of silencing said child.

animegirl- yah it was so fun and awesome. Food was good, ocean was warm, beautiful scenery. Cruises are really boring and expensive unless you keep yourself constantly drunk (that seems to work for some people) I went with my mom and sister when I was 12. I slept alot and cursed god and read alot. My sister gorged herself on food, and the attention of ugly boys. My mother was in the condition stated above. It was cute. but yah, want to be bored, stay in a tiny room for a week, seasick and broke? Cruise. also, they didnt heat the pool and this was a cruise to Alaska. maybe a ... warmer ocean will be more pleasant.

I went on a cruise with my gf once, and much to my suprise it wound up being very cool. I had always been dead-set against ever doing a cruise for most of the reasons others here have already stated, but my mind was really changed.
We only stopped at two ports (St. Thomas and St. Martin) so we had a longer stay at each one than we would have had otherwise and actually got to experience the culture a little bit, do some scuba diving, etc. The ship itself had an absurd amount of things to do as well.
As for it being expensive, it really wasn't at all. We went on Princess Curise Lines, one of the better ones, and the cost was really reasonable considering everything we did. Would I do it again? Probably not anytime soon, as there's plenty of other things I want to do vacation-wise and I'm usually more of a hands-on kind of traveler, but the experience was a great one and I'd consider it in the future.

The scenery in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg is really nice. All of which are in the same area as Dollywood.

We had a mother cat and her kittings living in our back yard, and the mother got killed. So, we rounded up the kittens to give to the humane society, so that they could take care of them, because they're still very young and nowhere near ready to live on their own. They probably hadn't eaten for about two days, and were very confused about what was going on.

There are some truely lovely spots around Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. LOTR epic mountain stuff.
However it isn't as awesome as it used to be as the area has become redneck vactation spot USA. At certain times of the year you can't turn around with out finding a dumb as a rock 45 year old white republican.
