    like this one?

"I hope further and I don't insist that you have the ordinary decency -- decency that is -- to do so -- Will you see Valerie through college -- she is the only one about whom I am concerned as this .38 whispers in my ear."

  2. I don't understand, a lot of the latter ones don't even seem like suicide notes, but more like diary entries and stuff that talk about how they did it, survived, and probably weren't going to do it again. Does that mean that they were writing these things talking about how they'd survived, found something to live for, and then said to themselves "Eh, fuck it, I'll do it now"?
    Time for a change

Thats what I was getting from the last ones too. All the notes seem to have this sort of realness that I don't often associate with horrible things. I don't know if that made any sense... but wow ...

    yum yum yum ...

The best one other than the guy who wanted to get away from his wife (seriously, though, wouldn't just leaving her accomplish that?) was the one about the demons.
To boldly go where lots of men have gone before...

"4) To my father, Vincent M., the sum of one dollar ($1)"

    Ouch.

  6. I only read a few and I couldn't do the rest. No matter how much I enjoy the gratutious tossing around of this sort of thing and murder in movies and videogames it always makes me sick to my stomach whenever I encounter anything like that which is real. Just looking at some of those reminds me of why I could never kill myself.

  7. I'm kind of on the opposite end of things. I find these fascinating and beautiful in a way. It really interests me, I mean, the things that could push somebody that far. To decide that no longer existing is a better option than toughing it out? Yeah, it's a pretty big thing. People say it's a coward's way out, but I find I have an odd sort of respect for people who have the balls to pull the trigger. I can't imagine it's easy.

The 74 year old man's note, though, that's devastating and terrifying stuff. Makes me wonder about the kind of problems people you see every day are carrying and never, ever speak a word about to anyone.

It would be hard for me to do I think. Being hard headed and not giving in is a huge part of my personality. I'd either do it as an act of defiance or after a persnality changing depression.

being old sucks. Parts of your body just fuck up and slowly kill you. For me losing my mind would be the worst part.

  9. This is an amazing find. Thanks.

Give my regards to Married Male, Age 74.

  10. On a related topic 'Nazis last words':
    http://www.calvin.edu/academic/cas/gpa/letzte.htm

"Mother, mother, I am dying. Hitler, for you I die gladly!"
"Mama, do not cry. I know that I must die for Hitler!"
"I think that the day of revenge will come. I bleed gladly for my Führer and the freedom of the German people. I will stay true to my Führer even if I must bleed or die. I am fighting Marxism. I will fight even harder than before. I will fight with all my might for a free Germany!"
    food for thoughts.
