Thread: Video Games According to Grandma

Someone needs to photoshop a GTA screen that says "Do you have to drive on the sidewalk?"
or "Can't you stop running over those poor hookers?"

  2. In 1980, diskdrives were considered too expensive for household consumers for game makers to support just diskdrive software. Of the 700 games for the Vic-20, 500 of them are on cassette only. Bastard.

  3. Does anyone honestly believe your grandma calls them tapes because she's used to early commodore terminology? Or is it just that Atari games looked kinda like 8 track cassettes?

  4. as well as the early computers might have sold, i don't think it was enough to make every living person over the age of 60 now think all games came on tape.

"Case" is slang for a dollar coin. I have no clue where the word itself originates. I imagine that, as it was used to mean a single physical coin, people started using it when specifying that they want a single coin in other denominations. Hence "case quarter" means "a single physical quarter" as opposed to 25 cents in random change. I suspect that you might also hear "case nickel" and "case dime" if you pay attention.

TRS-80 and Colecovision ADAM as well. But as stated, that's not why grandma called cartridges tapes.
