Thread: Heroes of Might and Magic

  1. Heroes of Might and Magic

I was able to score a copy of the Limited Edition of Heroes 5, so if anyone is up for playing 3,4 or 5 at all, drop me a line.

I could never get 3 to work right when playing online. However, I have 3 and 4, and look to get 5 in the near future. I'm totally down for it.

I'd be down for trying out 4. I have yet to play it as 5 is taking most of my time when I do play the series. Pick a night when you want to play 4, or 5 if you get, and we can get a game going.

  4. Hey I have a question for any one who can answer it. My fiance just bought Heroes V to get Heroes III and um, for some odd reason we can't get it to save. If keeps coming up with lines like,

Can't save xxx.CGM (where xxx is the name of the save file)

Is there anything I'm to do and/or set up to get this thing to save? It also won't auto save after turns either, which is very odd. The thing never asked for any kind of file direction for save files so I dunno what's going on with it.

Any help on this so she can play H3 would be hella appreciated.

I have yet to play single player in 3, but I have run into that same problem while playing multiplayer. I have no idea if it is a problem with these discs in particular, or if it is am XP compatability issue. I would like to know the answe for myself as well.

  6. Yeah she bought the "Limited Edition" so she could get HOMM3 and it's like, aggravating as hell, she spent 60 bux on the damn thing and yes, HOMM5 is too powerful for my comp but I looked up HOMM3 specs and my comp's good on it, so I have no clue why it won't let me save. I guess if I screw around with it some more I can figure this shit out.

Anyways, went to Ubisoft online support and they had the answer, had to go and fucking edit the directories in DOS for it to work, I had to make sure I had a directory that looked like this in DOS

    c: \program files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic III\Games

And when I finally did this it worked. YAY GO UBISFOT FOR MAKING THE USER HAVE TO MAKE THEIR OWN FILES TO SAVE! Shit I thought game makers got over this shit back in like 95 or some shit.

  8. $12.99 for Heroes V + the two expansions on STEAM.

    Fun game, especially in multiplayer.

  9. Heroes is one of my favorite games, for sure. 4 is the black sheep of the series... you're not missing out on much by not playing that. The Heroes 5 Pack on Steam is all sorts of worth 19.99, but Heroes 3: Complete is hands-down the best of the bunch. Does Heroes 3 on the H5 LE come with the expansions as well? I'm always down for a game if we can get it to connect. I haven't tried doing that in years.

Turn time limit, though. It's always frustrating to get with someone that takes 10 minute turns given how long these games last anyways.
