It's not lossless video compression, most early BR discs used MPEG2 which is most definitely lossy, most HD-DVD's use VC1 which I'm pretty sure is also lossy.
BR I believe has moved to VC1 also.

Meh, the only copy protection either format ever needed was the fact that nobody wants to download a 10 GB file.
But if the crack also allows playback on all TVs, analog component, etc, then good for all.

I figure most people will, though. That will take forever to download and if you're using a private site it will kill your sharing ratio.
