Thread: LOL @ HD-DVD

  1. Well, you could counter the whole BD-J "profile 1.1" crap as proof that the BDA just doesnt have thier shit together.

As well as Sears/Kmart is going HD-DVD exclusive at their stores.

I wish these damn companies would decide on something, because its sure as hell stalling sales as regular people are waiting on the fence.

I'm picking one of these up for myself tommorow, and one for my dad who I had buy a blu-ray player earlier in the year, so he can be format neutral.

I wouldn't at all argue that BD-J has been a total mess so far. Thankfully, I don't give a shit about special features.

Again, you're mistaken. Sears is not at all making any changes to their stocking of HD-DVD and Blu-ray. K-mart, on the other hand, will be carrying only one dedicated high-def media player, the lowest-end Toshiba HD-DVD player. Supposedly, they are doing that because they typically only carry low-end products.

Blu-ray movies will still be sold at every K-mart store (at least every one that currently carries them), and if you want to walk into a K-mart and buy a Blu-ray player, you still can: it's called a PS3.

On this, I totally agree with you. Of course, being format neutral does nothing to help bring about an end to this "war".

hell, even I wanted to if it wasnt for my 360 being dead at the time.

A lot of these moves toshiba has made wreak of desperation to me. What other companies are following them with such a huge price cut on their players? It goes along with the article i posted months ago that no company is really diving into the HD-DVD hardware market, cause theres little to no profit with how much toshiba keeps cutting their players.

Lets see where warner goes, the $100 hd-dvd player is a nice deal but do they have enough? i was searching for specs on it and it is a nice low end, only to 1080i though.

  4. Just another tip, if you have a Best Buy around you that still has this player in stock, they are doing it for $99 also, in addition they are including the 2 free HD-DVD deal as well as the 5 movie mail in offer.

  5. Warner Brothers goes Blu-Ray exclusive

  6. That's a big loss for HDDVD.

  7. Yawn @ this news.

This format war ended long ago and SD DVD was the winner.

    Blu-ray/HD-DVD = laserdisc

  8. Thats some shitty news right there. I really don't like Sony controlling a medium. I'm sorry but games are different than music and movies and I don't think a content provider should also control the hardware.

  9. How can you think SD is the best Cheebs!? I Only have SD DVD myself, but a friend has both bluray and HDDVD and they are head and shoulders above SD. I think bluray has the edge, I'd love to see some concert blurays as I think that would be incredible.

Sony is part owner of Blu ray with a bunch of other companies, just like they were with DVD, and cd.

And unlike hd-DVD, Sony isn't the only hardware maker out there like toshiba basically was. Let's stop with the FUD
