So when's the conference where they decide to fix the tacky-ass BRD clamshell packaging?
Well, now I don't feel so bad for recommending a blu-ray to my dad last last year.
I was getting a little worried there for a bit.
This format war is interesting. Even though I'm neutral at the moment, I still like the HD-DVD format better than Blu-Rays. Just checking out my collection right now, out of the 75 HD-DVDs I own, 18 of them are Warner Bros. titles....and 33 of them are Universal.
Everyone seems to think that this is the death of HD-DVD, but the Paramount/Dreamworks deal just washes out the Warner Bros. Deal IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft swoops down and buys out a couple Blu-Ray studios now...
It is funny to see the reaction to this news on the hidef forums though. Everyone is selling off their entire HD-DVD collection for about $10 a disc, and some people are even doing Buy Two Get One Frees...and trading 2 HD-DVDs for one Blu-Ray. I'm pretty sure my HD-DVD player and movies aren't going to suddenly disintegrate in May, so I'm stocking up on HDs now
I was playing my Dreamcast games yesterday too, and thats a funny thing because the Dreamcast died over six years ago. How am I still playing these games?
I bought both, HD-DVD and Blue Ray. By my math, the HD-DVD player that I bought for $199 that included two movies that I wanted (300 & Bourne Identity) and another 5 free that were from a nice pool of movies means I essentially got a player for free (7 x $24 = $168.00) and paid for movies I would've bought anyway. BSG Season 1 HD-DVD alone makes the player worth it for me.
As far as comparing the two, I don't see much of a difference and don't much care which "wins".
lol @ New Line declaring exclusivity the day after. That's kicking them while they're down.
New Line is heavily tied to WB, aren't they?
edit: They are, in fact, a subsidiary of Time-Warner. I thought those dvd cases seemed similar.![]()
I'm not worried, Transformers will save HD-DVD.
