No english T9 here... but my phone does have this awesome T9ish function for japanese which rocks.
Well I know this sounds dorky, but does anyone here uses the T9 dictionary on their phone?

Nah, I like typing out my messages.
I can't even imagine not using T9.. I hate smsing enough as it is
"Hah, Greg, you're terrible!"
I text all the time. I don't use T9. T9 is for losers.
I don't know if Japanese is just a match for cellphones or what it is, or better technology, or both, but typing out e-mail on my mobile back in Japan was a far, far better experience than doing so with my American phone.
But yes, I use T9. The people who don't are freaks.

I think a lot of it is the tech. This thing is damned smart, and I spend very little time looking for the kanji i'm trying for... usually a kana or two and it comes up as an option. You can slap out japanese e-mails in seconds (well it's possible at least, it's still a slower process for me, since my japanese isn't the best so I still have to spend some time putting together what I'm trying to say).
I used to hate it, back when I had an old nokia candy bar phone, but as of like 4 years ago, I can't imagine not using it.
