Have you tried cleaning it with a cd cleaner? It might just been full of dust since there is no a/c circulating the air in your room.
So, while I was playing Burnout Revenge, my Xbox suddenly locked up and now gives me the "Are you sure this is an Xbox disc?" message every time I pop ANYTHING inside it. I have no idea why this happened so suddenly, but I am on the top floor of my house and we don't have air conditioning (father doesn't "believe" in it, no grounded outlets in the house, and so on) so it's pretty fucking hot in my room all the time.
Now, has anyone seen this problem before? Is it the drive itself or is there another problem and can I fix it?

Good point. I'll give 'er a shot.
If it's really that hot up there you might be cooking it, I remember one summer where I had to keep a fan pointed at my PS or else it would lock up from time to time. Try giving MS a call and see if there's anything they can do for you, it's at least worth a shot.
All Microsoft will tell him is to power the system off, unplug all the cables, then re-insert all the cables, then power the system back on.Originally Posted by Chris
Maybe, or if he asks for a fix they may just say, "Hey, no warranty, tough luck." They gave me a new 360 when I told them mine wasn't working because a cat pissed on it, and when I sent it back it didn't even have any of the screws in it. The original Xbox is getting phased out by them, so I'd think there's at least a higher chance then normal of getting a replacement if they have any backstock to get rid of.Originally Posted by Nash
Regardless, tell them it's not working and so on and just ask, "If I did want it sent in and fixed how much would that cost?" The worst they can do is say something about no longer servicing the original model or give a ridiculous number and you say no.
Well, say I want a new one or some shit... or even a 360. Anyway to get my priceless saves off of there?![]()
The best way is to get an Action Replay with the USB attachment and store them all on your PC. Granted, there still isn't to my knowledge any way to get your saves from the Xbox to a 360, so you're SOL no matter what in that regard.Originally Posted by ChaoofNee
