Microsoft's gotta come up with another brand name for consumer electronics (this player, Xbox). "Microsoft" is so un-hip.

It'll be great to see how Apple moves the ipod foward with this new threat.

Edit: Looks like this thing won't be named the MNVO, but whatever. It's going right for the ipod video market.

Apple = Good at making user friendly software and pleasantly designed hardware.

Microsoft = Good at making horribly "techy" software riddled with security flaws and bugs, also clunky, appalling hardware. This "OUR SCREEN IS BIGGER!!!11" attitude is exactly what's wrong with Microsoft and hardware. You don't really need a huge screen for these things, especially if it's going to start weighing down your pants.

I'll wait to see what this thing looks and plays like before even considering.

There are already MP3 players that are better than iPods and people don't seem to care, and considering the fact that most iPod owners don't even use iTMS, I don't think a competing service will do MS any good.

Since I've never owned an iPod I can't say it's "better", but my Creative Nomad Zen Xtra was about half the price of an iPod and I can't think of a single thing wrong with it.
