That goes for every sport.
Playing basketball in real life will always be better than playing it in video game form.

2k has an excellent streetball rpg mode in which Flava Flav is a boss and the ball explodes. That >>>>> this.Originally Posted by sethsez

I don't recall anyone giving two shits about the Mario soccer and baseball games (I mean, a few did, but SpoDaddy doesn't really count here), and I haven't seen many people claiming this is innovative either. The gist seems to be that it looks nice a simple, fun, arcade-ish sports game on a system that has been lacking them up to this point (when the best sports game a system has shown after almost two years is a fucking Fifa title, there's a problem), and the license being used shouldn't factor into that as a positive or a negative. My main concern is that Square is a really, really bizarre choice for this.

Give it time, it hasn't appeared at any Walmart kiosks yet.Originally Posted by sethsez

Well, there's also Fifa Street 2 (haw), some golf games (do those even count?), and a shitty version of Top Spin, but yeah. Still, there's a place for arcade-ish sports titles, and basketball has shown itself to be a perfect fit. And whether it winds up playing well, at the very least the engine looks quite nice which is always a good sign since it's about all we've seen at this point.
Still, we're arguing back and forth about... what, exactly? Nobody here has played it, and the general buzz from those who have has been positive. I don't really care either way as I have no intention of buying it, but I don't really see a reason for the hate beyond the fact that it has Mario in it.

Strider, the arcade mode in the 2k sereis was just a sidething. I could see your point if that was heavily advertised but it's wasn't. I give the game points for atleast trying something different besides just being the same old game we have been playing for almost a decade. Except now with sweat.

Obviously, the first thing we all think about when we see short, mushroom-tripping Italian plumbers is how good can they ball.
