well you did just call it retarded. that ranks as bad in most vernacular. but in context i know what you were getting at, that poeple will enjoy this game because of its lisenced trappings and not because of its basketball, because the other games are better. To sports fans i'd even agree, picking this over a more polished realistic b-ball game is bad, but im willing to bet that some poeple who woudl never play a sports game might get it just because of the mario stuff and might even come to appreciate basketball in the process. i wont be one of those people, but maybe some will.

  3. Since it seems like nothing has really been said about the game itself other than "You tap the stylus and use it to pass" I'll throw the info I know about it into the mix:
Square went to Nintendo with the idea of making a Mario Basketball game, not the other way around.
There are Super Mario Kart (SNES) style question blocks on court floor. When you are on offensive you can dribble on top of these blocks to get coins; On defensive to get Super Mario Kart type items. The faster you dribble on the blocks, the more coins you get from them. The more coins you get from the blocks the more "extreme" you can make your dunk/shot, which gets more crazy and is worth more points depending on how much you scribble on the screen with the stylus while doing said dunk/shot.
I think the game is also online with Nintendo Wifi Connection.

Overall, I think it looks like fun and I'm looking forward to picking it up in September (Current release is 9/12/06, says Gamestop.com), but I think anyone expecting this to compare to a realistic b-ball game, or even an arcade one, is going to have something completely different since it doesn't look to play anything like either one.

I don't like my gimmicks being stolen.

I'm just saying that comparing this to NBA 2K is stupid. It's like comparing Gran Turismo to Wipeout. If I were picking a fight it'd be much, much more obvious.

Sorry about the gimmick, but you'll always have Mortal Kombat, sweetcheeks.

2k has an excellent streetball rpg mode in which Flava Flav is a boss and the ball explodes. That >>>>> this.
Holy shit. Which one? I own 2K1 on the DC, I think.
