Thread: Valkyrie Profile Lenneth

Did VP ship on Tuesday? In other words, will Best Buy have it today? I have a $10 Reward Zone certificate burning a hole in my pocket.

  2. It did, although when I went to EB yesterday they didn't have it yet. The guy sitting on the floor behind the counter (no, seriously) was also a jackass and I'm never going back there, but that's beside the point.

Anyway, VP related, I agree with Sleeveboy and played the first dungeon just now after picking it up. Plays and looks fine to me.

  4. I tried unsuccessfully to get into it twice before, and the second time i dropped at least a few hours into it. Third time... I like it more than the other two.
    Donk

  5. I'm playing this and i'm thinking how this is a horrible, broken mess of a game. The story segments are awful, the characters are as irritating as they are likable, the dungeons usually have nothing to do with the story, and it's all thrown on that stupid map screen. It's like the SaGa games, but it's even more sloppy, God bless its broken little heart. I love it anyway. I can't stop playing. And Lenneth is such a stone-cold bitch <3

  6. Any estimates on the length? It's not a 70-80 hour epic, is it? No need to be specific, but a vague there-abouts would be nice.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  7. I despise the unskippable spoken dialogue in this.

The voice acting's okay, but it's just so damn belabored.

One playthrough takes 25-40 hours, usually.

Yea, EB and Gamestop have their finger up their ass. It's always a guessing game when new titles come in. They don't always get next day air on their shipments, so you might get new releases on Wed. or Thurs. Better off ordering online and getting next day air. Sometimes you get it before the stores.

Has this release made the original PS version plummet in price? I bought the original @ release, and really wanted to like it, but the resource management, logistics and overall difficulty of the game was something I couldn't quite wrap my head around. Seems like if you didn't allocate your weapons right and shift your party members around at the right time, you'd end up with a weak-ass party that couldn't damage anything. Maybe I'll pick it up again and work harder on it, because it had such a good premise, entertaining story and cool battle system.
You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.

The voices that actually fit the characters are fine, but more than a few are wretched. I turned the voices all the way down, but not being able to skip them indeed blows. This is why not all games need voice acting. It does not help this one at all. Although, the little bit I've heard in the cg scene that actually had it sounded really well done.
