Thread: Samurai Champloo

  1. Samurai Champloo

There is a new anime samurai anime series in the works by Shinichiro Watanabe(of Cowboy Bebop fame). So far the character designs look pretty good and from the short character profiles I've read, they seem interesting.

The series is set around the Edo-era Japan...around 60 years after the civil war. The weird an interesting thing about this though. Watanabe always picks out his soundtracks for his series for example the marriage of Yoko Kanno for Cowboy Bebop and Macross Plus. This time around for Samurai Champloo, he's incorporating J-rap and US. hip hop. Sounds a bit odd for a samurai series based in the edo-era. I'm wondering how this will go.

I'm gonna be checking the home site often for more info and pic's

  2. He better not screw this up like he did with Wolf's Rain...

  3. How he screw up wolfs rain? He didn't even have anything to do with it.

  4. You're thinking of the character designer for Bebop perhaps. He did the designs for Wolf's Rain.

On topic, this show looks and sounds pretty sweet from the designs and the premise. When does this air?

  5. I'm not really sure when it comes out. Its still in development so it might be a little while before release anywhere.

  6. Almost forgot about this one...

    Mm..

Rap. Hah. This should be good...

  7. Very cool. I will definately keep an eye on this series.

Whoops, thought he directed it. Sorry.

  9. Nah he didn't direct it. The same studio that did bebop did Wolfs rain tho.

I whole different studio and crew is doing Samurai Champloo.

Heh Samurai action with hip hop...hope it don't become a Kung Faux.

  10. I'm interested.
    Not because of the director.
Not because of the (awful) choice in soundtrack.
Only because "Champloo" is one of the coolest words I've ever seen.
