    Sounds like a cool project; it looks like a good way to put your schooling to work.
    i havenew tubes right now. China and russia still make tubes. it is debatable if they sound better than NOS, but whatever.

    Eh, I guess that is kind of true. Except Marshall puts out lots of shitty new models these days. Harely on the other hand sticks to the old ways and charges you out the butt for it.

    They both live off their names though.

  2. We need to get buttcheeks an Official TNL hardhat for when he builds shit. Safety first!

    Thats what I was going for.
    PSN = knarlockk
    Steam= kevinb150

  4. Well I think Orange suits that description much better (plus they give me wood).

    Fucking awesome project man. What are you gonna drive with it?

    probably a Mississippi made 2x12

    I'm not sure on speakers. Either two webers, or the 12 inch old jensen I have laying around. I haven't tested the jensen though and they aren't known for being used with marshalls

  6. Awesome project dude. Tremolo is a fun toy to have built on to an amp, I have it built on my Vox amp.

    If this works, i can see many people here wanting to fund you in building them amps...I might be one of them..
    You can never be one of the dead, because something that has no existence can have no community.

    I beefed my Marshall back in the day trying a couple combinations of Sovtek tubes. Fairly inexpensive and make a world of difference. Icepick loved it.

    I think the brand I got are JJs. You two might want to get two sets of Sovteks. I think the russian government is trying to dick the owner out of his business.

  9. Awesome project! Other than installing pickups or building peice o shit fuzzboxes, I've never had the balls to tackle an amp. My soldering skills are horrendous, and I'm positive I'd fuck something up.

    Since you seem to know your shit with tube amps, maybe you could shed some light on my amp problem? I've got a 50watt Ampeg Reverberocket thats been acting strange lately. I keep getting this intermittent noise that sounds like an engine revving up, the noise starts out quiet and gets frighteningly louder and louder, and if I give the amp a good knock on the side, it stops. I'm almost positive it isn't a bad tube, I've had tubes go bad before and it sounds nothing like this. Any ideas?

    can you tell me how old this amp is? And would you say that the motor sound kind of sounds like a "motor-boat?"
