I was in a book store today, flipping through The Dark Knight design book. It has the full shooting script in it, and here's the description of Dent after the fall, pretty much word-for-word:

"Dent is lying on the ground with a broken neck. DEAD."

That's not to say they could change their minds and bring him back for a sequel, but I don't think they will. Dent was protrayed as a tragic character, and his dying at the end was very fitting.

So as far as TDK script is concerned, he is indeed dead.

  2. did people not get that from the funeral/memorial ceremony they did?

HEs dead, what they didnt want to lose was all he had done, before the joker had corrupted him, so batman takes the blame.

Yeah, I didn't think there was much grey area there.

Still, for a sequel they could easily turn around and say they've been keeping him locked up in a cell deep in the depths of Arkham Asylum, but whatever.

  5. I forget, have they even mentioned Arkham yet? It's been a while since Begins and I don't remember it being mentioned in this one.

  6. Batman definitely mentions Arkham at some point, but I forget when or why.

*EDIT* It's the scene where Harvey Dent is threatening the Joker's henchman with the gun and Batman stops him. Bats tells Harvey that the guy is "a paranoid schizophrenic that the Joker picked up from Arkham."

His name's Schiff Thomas, paranoid schizophrenic. Former patient at Arkham, the kind of mind the Joker attracts, what do you expect to learn from him?

There are no rules, only consequences.

  9. Kevin Spacey would have made a good Riddler. Somebody earlier mentioned Phillip Seymour Hoffman for The Penguin, which would be a great transition as well.
