Couldn't you just password the windows account instead?
Can anyone help me do this? I believe my new laptop's hard drive shipped partitioned (it lists as having a C drive and a D drive, both about 50 gigs, and the official hard drive size in the specs is 100 gb). I'd like to password protect one of the partitions or some folders.

Nope, it has to be the individual drive or folders
How do I conceal my pornography TNL?
XP doesnt support password protection ony file level permissions:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307874
USe that to set permissions if you have multiple users on your box
or you could encrypt the file/folder http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d....mspx?mfr=true
or you could zip the contents up and password the zip file
or you could dl a 3rd party prog, take your pick, no telling how reliable they are
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=fol...web-t403&x=wrt
or you could wait for windows vista and use bitlocker on the drive
or www.google.com
or www.microsoft.com .....
