Oh god, that is fucking gorgeous. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't leave off the tremolo either. It can't be a proper "master" without some sort of tremolo, at least a Bigsby.
This is an area where we are not seeing eye to eye! I just don't like a whammy bar. I don't know why. And J MAscis is best served drumming in Witch or Upside Down Cross. For some reason I just reached a point where I cannot do Dinosaur Jr. Again I don't know why. I was a big fan as a teenager!
But thanks for mentioning him because now I'm going to have to go on a Witch binge!
Have any of you folks ever comped together drum tracks? I've done it successfully with vocals, but my attempts at comping drums are not so good. I can't figure out how to remove or incorporate the room sound of my drums, so when I get a good segment I want, after I get it chopped up, it always sounds like a have a massive noise gate on the snare at the end of my loop. I hate making music. Just kidding, I love it. No actually, I fucking hate it.
I am contemplating removing the finish on my Greco fretboard. What is left is gunky and gross. In contrast, the wood poking through in spots feels sexy and smooth. Is there any good reason not to? I do not care if this thing gets ugly, but I do care if it warps or somehow becomes unplayable.
Any experience with this? Every thread I can find about it on musician forums is full of assholes.
Jack Sondermeyer passed today. It would not be an understatement to say that he has touched more lives than any other amp designer. Where others were limited by the genres that their equipment was a key part of, he was not. In addition to Tube/Solid State amps, he would be a big pioneer in mixers, power amps and PA equipment. He was the mind behind the devices that would allow small bands and small venues to have professional sound.
If you've heard electronically reproduced sound, he's probably had an impact on your life.
