I don't see why that group pic has to be sideways.
Teeny tiny combo amps though. I'd rather carry any 100 watt head than a Fender Twin. And now that I'm old a 4x12 is always a team lift so that's no strain either.
Despite Ginn and Hill being two of my favorite guitar players ever and having a bit of a dumb fascination with Skynrd (it's because I'm a simple man too!) I never paid any attention to Peavey guitar amps until the first time I saw Gaytheist. Dude has a VTM just like the one I got the other day and holy fuck is his sound amazing. Then I saw Black Breath and noticed both guitar guys were rocking double Butcher stacks. But generally speaking Peavey guitar amps had always been portrayed as undesirable and I just went along with everybody I knew. Add on top of that the EVH/Soldano/5150 debacle and I had plenty of reason to stay away. But this VTM has broken the ice. I figured it'd be fine as I had just seen Gaytheist again about two nights before but I was surprised that I couldn't make myself unplug it and stick my regular amp back up there. So I just played it in place of my usual amp for a whole practice. Now I want to get a Butcher and maybe a Rockmaster or a Roadmaster! At flippable prices of course because the idea is not really to keep forever (I have amps for that) but just to try and see. Any decent tube amp American or English tube amp is a quality investment these days. Even Peaveys and silver Fenders are costing actual money now.
SO I picked up my real new amp yesterday. It fucking slays. It was designed for Prince (the artist formerly known as the weird symbol) and will be the next Soldano product to hit the market. It's just 100 watts of pure clean and is a fucking exquisite platform for the fuzz pedals. I'm pretty psyched![]()

The amp is so heavy it shifted the earth's gravitational pull.
I can think of no other plausible hypothesis.
I've scaled my bass rig way down to a Mark Bass Little Mark III and a light weight Schroeder cab with a 10" and a 12" speaker. Its about a quarter the size of my old rig but equally loud and sounds great. The Mesa Boogie cab I had was fucking awesome but just overkill for my needs and cumbersome as shit (its about the size of an Ampeg fridge), now I can carry my entire rig and my bass in 1 trip.
I like big amps and cabinets. Not any corny 6x12 or 4x15 bullshit. Just standard rock n roll bigness. I have bandmates and we get 'er done.
After we got done tracking the new record Steve and I made a nice little amp wall with all of our amps:
*jizzes everywhere*
What's that 6x10 in the center? SWR?
OH SO THEY'RE ALL YOUR AMPS, HUH?
I'm still salivating over that VT-22, my dream amp.
