If you guys were going to construct an extremely bare bones studio, something of a workhorse that wouldn't be obsolete in a year, what would you do??? I need to setup a basic recording rig, and don't want to get tied down to ProTools and having to do software and computer upgrades every freaking year. Ultimately a tape machine would be my best bet, but tape is so expensive at this point it wouldn't make much sense for me.

Thinking of learning to play the piano. Any advice on a digital piano for a noob? Found a Yamaha NP30 on CL for $120 that I might go for.

Maybe dropping a bunch of money on recording equipment isn't so wise at the moment. I guess I could save some money and book time at somebody else's studio, but thats a nightmare I'm not equipped to deal with at the moment.Originally Posted by Josh

I know nothing of electric pianos or weighted keys but I do know that piano is a good thing to know.
Is it the money? Why would recording in a proper studio be a nightmare?
