Don't believe videogamecharts.com. DS sales worldwide are well past 20 million right now. PSP's nowhere close (unless you count bare shipments, which is what Sony will always advertise). In the US, DS has jumped ahead of PSP by more than half a million in the past couple months (since DS Lite launched in June, DS has already sold nearly 1 million units in the US alone). It's much worse in Japan. Even in Europe, DS is ahead of PSP sales. DS is far and away the fastest selling video game system of all time, as far as I understand. Fastest selling to 5, 10 and 20 million worldwide.

The DS is handily outselling the PSP in Japan I think, like 60-40 or maybe even 65-35. Not the case in the rest of the world.

The ratio is worse (for PSP) in Japan than that, but you're right, not as bad around the world. PSP is still doing pretty well, but as I predicted years ago, it's finding a different market. A market that doesn't buy games (not one PSP game in the top 25 last month--Over G Fighters on 360 made 23).

Is it that suprising? A spirtual succesor to the GBA with a lot of games that hit a demographic few companies ever really focused on. The DS was either going to have a beautiful and painful death or be an amazing success story.

Who was it that was doubting Nintendogs after the Japanese launch? It was selling well and most people foresaw a huge hit, but there were a couple people here (dog$?) that thought it wasn't impressive.

Nintendogs is still selling 100,000 monthly in the US. Over 7 million units worldwide.

WTF are you talking about? I didn't discount them here. If I did, it might have to do with the fact that the DS isn't outselling the PSP by over 300% like the PS2 did to the Xbox.
