Thread: TNL Show and Tell: Gradius V Breakdown DVD

  1. PlayStation 2 TNL Show and Tell: Gradius V Breakdown DVD

What TNL editor James lacks in patience, he makes up for in...well, having a lot of stuff and writing about it. This time, he takes you deep into the seedy underbelly of 2D shooters, and the men who love them.

    Are you feeling naughty?

  2. OK, now after I have seen pics of the DVD and a breakdown of all the game history listings (didn't know they had Parodius profiles too, nice) I need this. Nice that the huge delay in getting the disc out was worth it, looks like Konami really is proud of the series based on their exceptional work on the DVD. Peeps on the shmups board posted detailed info about the disc's content but there's something about purty pics that push you to action.

Looks like I better get the game and scrounge up the DVD before they skyrocket. Too bad I don't have a PS2 yet but I will remedy that in a few months. Plus a smart man buys his beloved niche game, system or no, as I did when I nabbed a sealed copy of Soukyugurentai 4 years ago for just $48 even though I still didn't have my Saturn. Boo ya.

  3. would the DVD still be available with an order of the game, or is this something that needs to be hunted down?

i figured i was out of luck. maybe not?

  4. I've heard that EB and GameStops give out the DVDs if you just ask them for one.

  5. I got one of these as well and I was very pleased. There's a good couple hours of video on there. I did talk to someone who claimed he found a gamestop that still had them a couple days ago. He was in Chicago. So it might not be too late.

Item of Note: Takano is incorrectly credited as the game's director on this disc; He was, in fact, the producer. The game was directed by Hiroshi Iuchi and Atsutomo Nakagawa.

EB never got the discs, it was a GameStop thing. But yeah, check it:

    a) the discs were not ready on time and were therefore not handed out with the game if it was purchased on or close to the launch date

    b) nobody knows what the hell Gradius is

That means that all GS stores have a nice stack of the bonus disc lying around, since the only way to get it is to go ask for it. There might be a problem with employees being ignorant of its existence and lying about it (which happened to me). Luckily, the 2nd employee out on the floor wasn't an idiot and I got the disc.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1
