Thread: Hunter S. Thompson

  1. Hunter S. Thompson

I remember reading through the lengthy obituary for Hunter S. Thomspon. His name did not ring a bell.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" my buddy asked. "The guy's a literary genius. How the fuck are you a journalist?"

I hadn't read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and hadn't any desire to do so. The long and short: I discovered his writings two weeks ago. I finished Fear and Loathing and I'm tearing through Kingdom of Fear. I'm enamored by his odd style and prescient, social observations. I know I'm late to game. Anyone else have any opinions on him?

    He's no Crispin Glover.

  3. No idea.

  4. I dig him. Fear and Loathing on the Campaign trail is one of the best political insider books I've ever read.

Go look up his ESPN columns if you like his stuff. He'd been doing them the last couple years before he died.
