I've really wanted to try it for years now but I need to get checked by a doctor first and I've been lazy about that. (I have porphyria which is still latent and that could get triggered by a chemical in that drink, and once it's activated I have it for life so I'd rather avoid that.)

Absinthe is ok, once again, it taste like strong, harsher ouzo. You won't trip balls or see anything, but you do get a nice, relaxed drunk off it. Hangover city.

Absinthe is straight up fire water. And just like arjue said, it doesn't make you trip, it just gets you nice and drunk like any other liquor that is 120proof and above.

Lame. I heard there was a psychodelic quality to this liquor since it was supposed to have snake venom in it (or so I've heard).

I guess I'll just stick to the shit I can get at the store.

Snake venom? Sounds like a game of telephone happened. It's known for its ingredient of wormwood, which can be poisonous if ingested improperly.

And you can't really drink enough absinthe for the wormwood to effect you psychadelically, you'd need a stomach pump by that stage.

Any absinthe that you're going to import with wormwood extract in it is going to cost upwards of $200 and it isn't even going to be worth it because you'll barely notice anything different than normal.

It tastes absolutely horrible too, unless you like licorice, in which case you might love it.

Absinthe is highly overrated. But it makes people throw up the instant it hits their tongue. I've seen two people do this so far.
