In state tuition for Mississippi State is $4,596. Out of state is $10,552. Where do you think that extra six grand comes from, the Tuition Fairy?

Yes, they get it back out of your taxes because a college graduate stands to make far more money over their lifetime than a non graduate.

The median household income in 2003 was $40,000 in the US, so there lots of people surviving on a hell of alot less than $100,000. $100,000 a year is still an awful lot of money that anyone who isn't retarded should live very comfortably on. Also, you can buy a new car for under $20,000 (hell there's a Kia that costs $7000 new) and no one is forcing you to buy a new car anyway. Houses are expensive, but no one really expects to pay off their house with one year's salary and the real estate market is ridiculously over inflated right now.

Also, I haven't looked into the housing market in Mississippi but I'm sure there are plenty of houses available for well under $150,000. You're not exactly living in Manahattan.

no, the prices are retarded everywhere. You can spend 150,000 on a house that is between two small towns.

  3. lol. $150k on a house is chump change. I can't get a condo for less than $500k

ugh, yes I'm aware of that. But that still doesn't justify the shit diff is talking about. The gov pays about 6,000 a year. In the first year the average doctor will pay back all of that in tax for his first 4 years of college (about 24,000.) In a couple of years, this person will had put back all that he used, plus put in enough to help maybe one or two other kids doing what he did.

How do you justify the other 30/40 something years this person works and pays taxes?

And while we are talking about "owing", doesn’t people like doctors, physicologist scientist, and engineers pay society back in some way by just doing their job? We're talking about the people who keep society healthy, build new things, and keep our knowledge base alive.

=/ they must want to sell really bad.

My great aunt died last year and I did som help with the estate. I've heard most the conversation about properity and housing in mississippi. The recommended value for her house that was a bit smaller than that was about 140/150 thousand.

How much you think your 13 years of education before college cost? How about roads, police, firefighters, the military, etc? You can't be serious here.

you can't use that to justify making the succesful pay more. Those aren't things that they only use, or even mainly use. Those are all things that we all almost equally use. The poorest to the richest use all of those things.

Yes, we should all pay taxes for those things, but that says nothing for how much we should pay.

BTW, I don't know about where you live, but where I live, the wealthy pay for all education. A School's budget come from properity tax, and since the wealthy own the land, they are the ones footing the bill.

Give me a fucking break. Those are all jobs that pay very well. What, you think people with good jobs shouldnt pay taxes? Leave it to the rabble!

Yes, we should all pay taxes for those things, but that says nothing for how much we should pay.
Lets say there's a flat tax of 20%. 20% of $40,000 is $8,000. 20% of $200,000 is $40,000. So the first person has $32,000 left while the second has $160,000. You think thats fair? Really? You and Yoshi should be best friends.

  9. This is a worthless argument anyway. I think practically every developed country uses some form of progressive tax. Economists all seem to agree that it's the way to go. I really don't think Ironplant having some notion that the idea of it is unfair affects anything.

Give me a break, now you're putting words in my mouth. I've never said that anyone should not pay taxes. That is just absurd. Thats like going out to eat with friends and skipping out on them when it comes time to pay the check.

I clearly said that I don't like death tax on the grounds that the person who originally owned it, and the person that will inherit it, has paid tax on said thing, and will continue to pay tax on said thing. The gov taking a nice lump sum for it to transfer hands with in a family is shitty in my eyes.

I also said I wasn't for the mildly successful paying a much greater percentage than someone that makes 30,000 or 40,000 less than him.

That is all I've said. This would have went a lot smoother if you could keep from lumping the top of the middle class in with rich asshole business men that make thousands an hour doing nothing, and uses lawyers and accountants to get out of paying all taxes. I'm sorry if you can't see it, but there is a huge difference between a person that makes 100,000 a year and pays all of their taxes and a person that makes 500,000 to 1,000,000 a year and finds a way to get out of paying ANY taxes.

how the fuck is that NOT fair? they each paid an equal percentage. They each earned their money. How can you tell one that he needs to give more money than the other simply because the guy on the left or right didn't make as much?

what the fuck are you basing your concept of "fair" on. It sure the fuck isn't logic.

See, yes, the current requried income to live, NOW that isn't fair. The min wage should rise. Letting the average man get paid shit and trying to fix the system by making some other guy foot the bill is just bullshit.
