Thread: TNL Movie Club: Repo Man

  1. TNL Movie Club: Repo Man

    Repo Man

    • Cast

Harry Dean Stanton, Emilio Estevez, Tracey Walter, Olivia Barash, Sy Richardson.

    • Written and Directed

    Alex Cox.

    • Soundtrack Includes

Iggy Pop, The Circle Jerks, Black Flag and others.

This sci-fi anti-consumerism yarn follows Estivez' character, Otto, as he turns from white suburban punk to white suburban punk who legally steals cars. In between car heists the crew of repo men share stories and philosophies, with the best lines saved for the mechanic Miller (Walter).

The lives of the repo men grow ever more intense after they learn of an unusually high reward for an old Chevrolet Malibu.

They do not hunt it alone.

Hopefully not too many people have seen this. After searching the only person I saw mention it (besides myself) was Frogacuda, which might mean I just stole his movie choice. My bad if so. It does look like Netflix has it. It's a culty, quotable, weird film that, requisite disclaimer, won't appeal to everyone. It's also a fun flick that captures a unique punk rock feel that I hope people enjoy.

You did, but I surely don't mind. Just means Repo Man gets a turn and I can think of something else.

  5. I saw this probably about 5 or 6 years ago (whenever that LE Tin came out) and that was it. I really liked it, but it was at a time when I was just watching 2-3 new movies every day or two.

I've heard a lot about this flick. I have no idea when I'll ever get to watch it though. My queue is fucking nuts.

If you're refering to NetFlix.... I found that there's a 500 movie limit and so I have that full and the rest are in my IMDb account under "Must See" hehe.

  9. I've seen parts of this on TV over the years but have never seen it. Time to pop over to Netflix.

The TV version is almost a different movie. It's heavily censored and only has like 60 minutes of footage from the original version. I kinda wish they'd include the TV version as a DVD extra.
