I'm not comparing lego star wars in quality, but again that got mediocre reviews across the board and sold like crazy.
The fact that I sold more copies of Crime Life than Psychonauts already proved this theory.
It has a mid-80s on metacritic.
Anyway, reviews help or hurt games without a sizable built-in audience. I think the positive reviews help games like Okami and if Yakuza wasn't being docked 15% for not being GTA: Kabukicho it would be a big hit.
Of course the fact is that 95% of games sold seem to be either a sequel or franchise so maybe sales are predetermined.
I sold a ton of Shak-Fu on Genesis back in the day.
who I bought that game? You can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a loose Shaq Fu cart.
This is only a half truth. If Bulletproof was a good game it would have sold even more than it did.
