Thread: Lost Girls

  1. Lost Girls

I finally picked this up last week, and it's gorgeous. It's Alan Moore's giant porno 3-book boxed set, but it's as well-written as anything he's done and the production values are stunning.

Anyone else dump the ridiculous pile of cash needed to buy it? Even with a 20% off coupon from Borders it's pricey, but I'm glad I went for it.

  2. I'm intrigued that you describe it as a 'well written porno'.

What's it all about? (Before I Wiki it)
    "Hah, Greg, you're terrible!"

  3. It's been awhile since I read about this. If I remember correctly, it is about Alice in Wonderland and some other fairy tale girls GETTING IT ON!
So is there an actual story in there?

  4. There's an actual story there, yes.

Basically, it's set in a European hotel in the early 1900s, with Alice (from Wonderland), Wendy (Peter Pan), and Dorothy (Oz) all meeting up and having lots of sex. The hotel stuff is good enough, but the best parts are the retelling of the three women's adventures from when they were girls.

Brilliant stuff, but not for everyone. It wanders into some fairly dark places, and I expect the child-porn police to call for its burning any day now. Plus there's a fair chunk of male/male as well. It's about sex, not just our personal preferences.

  5. I thought the idea was alright, if a bit derivative of what Anne Rice did with Sleeping Beauty, but it doesn't seem deviant enough to satisfy me when it comes to erotica/pornography. It's testament to the society we live in that something like this isn't enough, but I like things to be darker than this. Something like 'Poisoning Eros' done in comic form would be stunning if you could actually convey the descriptions.

    Sales -1

  7. If Lost Girls wasn't freaking 75 bucks I'd pick it up. I read the single issue they did of it and it was interesting but the price for the full set is to pricey for me.

And Lost Girls is far better written then anything Anne Rice has done and far better then The Sleeping Beauty books. My god did those books get on my nerves, it was like everyone was dumb, it was all about spanking, and when it wasn't it was something gross and not hot in the least.

  8. At a guess, I'd say they'll release it as a three-volume softcover eventually. It's already neatly divided up into three seperate books in the case, so there's no reason not to. The first printing is already completely sold out, and it's up to a third printing as soon as they can get it done. Not bad for $75.

Worth it if you like books that really feel like they're worth owning. The paper stock is fantastic, making the ink feel like it's glowing off the page.

We have 3 sets of the book in my store which I'm not to worried about them being sold anytime soon. I might get them but 75 still a heafty price tag.

  10. I didn't care for the Anne Rice stuff either. My wife read them and I picked up the first one to look through. She was always telling me,"Ooh, you'd like this, it's messed up". It's not. I called her a pussy. Then: F'edHUTA.
