There's kind of an interesting deal at Asian retailer Lik-Sang, which is where I bought my Gamecube pre-U.S. launch. The store is offering PS2 and Wii preorders with no money down and no obligation to buy, but cannot tell you what the final price will be. It's a little like eBay, but likely much cheaper.

Once the supply figures are set in stone, Lik Sang will offer the units (both North American and Japanese consoles) to the preorder group at an appropriate cost. Customers can choose whether to buy at that price or hold on until prices drop. Nothing is charged until the time of shipment.

If you absolutely must have a Wii or especially a PS3 at launch, this is a good option to exercise, since you don't pay a penny unless you accept the final purchase price. If you manage to snag a unit in-store or online for less money, good for you; if not, you'll be very glad you acted on this.
