"Gah", I grasp what you're saying. You just aren't right.
You could say "yeah, I guess I am buying another retro game, but it's one I've never played before" and that would be fine. but you're saying "I never played one of those games on this collection of retro games, therefore it's not a collection" and that is a false statement.
"Gah".
What the fuck?
I've never played Kid Chameleon, but if I bought the upcoming Genesis collection to do so I'd still be playing a retro game on a collection of retro games. Whether or not you've played Gradius Gaiden before is what's irrelevant; it's still an old game.
As for the topic, I have the feeling that I'm going to start buying into retro games in a big way fairly soon. Video games suck now.
The compilation it's on came out in June. The game itself still came out in 1997. Whether anyone's played it before or not.
Unless GameFAQs is just confused. I've never played a Gradius game in my life, so I wouldn't personally have any idea when it came out. :x
Personnally I'm not buying into the coming Retro stuff. I mean, I love retro games and I play more retro games than current-gen games, that's a fact. But I do not like those crazy price tags. As Raystorm said, I do not mind to buy well done enhanced remakes, but I won't pay $5/$10 to download a rom on the Virtual Console when I can buy the real game for about the same price, or less.
IBTN. Doom XBLA for $10 was totally worth it because playing online co-op with TNL people (sup K3V and Korly) was an awesome experience. If the Virtual Console does not offer online co-op/vs with voice chat in its retro titles (Tetris Attack, it MUST be done), then I'd rather play those games on my Xbox.
