Girls, universally, love the hell out of Cake.
Fat Princess is going to be HUGE.
Saw Cake for the second time, they were pretty awesome. There were also more hot chicks there than most concerts I have been to, which was strange.

So I saw Andrew Bird last night, solo at lehigh university's music theater.
The stage was set up as it is in this video:
Those horn-looking things are actually custom build amps, laying on the floor facing upwards. Each, I believe, is connected to its own loop pedal. And the middle one with the double-horn can spin around creating a wonderful effect.
Needless to say the show was absolutely mind-blowing, and he was on point the entire time, looping the shit out of anything & everything (as was expected). This version of Why?, which he opened with, was particularly incredible, and set the stage for an amazing night. Going in I was a little concerned that he was without his band, but I was immediately shown I had nothing to worry about, because it felt like he was completely in control the entire time, which is insane considering how much was going on.
Great show. Now onto Nick Cave on tuesday, and Woven Hand twice the next week.
That setup seems like its prone to SERIOUS wankery.
Props for him going out on the road by himself with no band though.
Any prerecorded comps, or is he creating all his loops on the spot?
Everything's created on the spot.
He basically builds the song layer by layer as it goes. And believe me, not a single note of wankery was to be found.
And honestly, the setup just looks rather ridiculous. Other than the spinning gimmick, they really just sound incredible. Coupled with the excellent acoustics it was one of the best sounding shows I've been to.

I saw Pendulum (Drum and Bass guys) last night in Detroit and it was amazing. We had to wait four hours since ticketmaster sucks at reporting show times, but whatever. Fucking awesome set, even if it was a bit short (80 minutes). There were maybe a hundred people tops there. My boyfriend decked me in the eye with his elbow with his overly enthusiastic dancing.
Taking my wife to see Maxwell in a couple of weeks.
