No, not the veracity of the situation. Simply I am casting doubt on the specific examples used. I mean, the stories of corruption make for a great read, but it is obvious they being highly elaborated by the writer to make them sound as over the top as possible. Its what Rolling Stone does (I mean its not exactly a political magazine, and any cultural relavance it had has been lost in the last 30 years).

No, its not that at all. (In fact this article names like 4 democrats as the worst senators if I recall). I'm not saying the article is not correct (the congress is in fact much more corrupt now then it was 10 years ago). But it is an entertainment magazine, and as such don't expect accurate direct political commentary. This article had its amusing parts, but really took itself to seriously to be actually interesting and indulged too much to be able to consider it as an in depth commentary.

I see the typical idiots that claim the media isn't left biased are now quoting a music magazine for their political opinions. Good form.

You are wrong. Power does corrupt. The stupidity comes in when you allow the corrupt to retain their power despite their corruption. It happened for at least two majority governments here in Canada, and it caused a vacuum in the leadership of this country because everyone thinks that no political party deserves to lead the country, leading to two minority goverments.

can you name anyone that is very intelligent and sane that was corrupted by power? ( I don't buy that Canada's two previous groups were intelligent.)

Power doesn't corrupt. It allows corrupt people to show their stripes on a grand scale though.

I could cite the NewsMax articles that also describe some of the situations that happened if it'd make you feel better. I already posted a Washington Times article to that effect. Look, the point is the facts presented in the article. If you have evidence that refutes them, produce them, because I can produce corroborating evidence.
    Time for a change

  9. On one hand, I'm not shocked, this is status-quo for congress, bunch of smucks of whom about 1/2 can't even get a credit card.

On the other hand, I'm not sure if the Dem's had power that this would improve, and it fact, it may get worse if you allow the labor unions more clout.

  10. Isn't there something somewhere in one of our bills that lets us just fire all of the Legislative and Executive branches? Like, "GTFO, assholes, now. No, you can't run again ever for any office."

    That would be awesome.
