Thread: Intercooler problems

  1. Intercooler problems

I was just curious if anyone in here has had any issues with their Intercoolers.

I have one on my system and have had no problems with it, but a friend of mine had an issue in which it actually burned his 360 unit and also got the "ring of death" after using it. I've read different accounts on the internet with similar issues. I wonder if this is a wide-spread thing or is it simply a couple people with bad luck...

  2. It's a shoddy product, and with the way it works it actually does do more damage than it helps. It's snake oil, my friend.

  3. Could you explain, or point to a page that explains, how it damages the system? I'm guessing by blowing dust into the fragile inner workings, but don't know for sure.

I knew I had a reason to avoid the Intercooler. Always nice to see my groundless paranoia become reasonable doubt.

Maybe he's referring to the actual xbox360.

  6. I'm willing to believe Nyko screwed up the design pretty badly, but the GWN article uses some pretty lousy anecdotal "evidence" to back up its claim. The things the guy using the Intercooler experience sound identical the what people who don't use it go through when their system dies, and that includes me and the two times my system went back.

Draws off too much power? Scary scorch marks around the plug-in area? That's pretty bad, and I'm willing to lay the blame on the Intercooler with no problem. Random deaths that could be caused by anything including the 360 being really badly constructed? Uh... no.

    Either answer would be acceptable.

I'm on your XBOX, stealin' your joules!

That might explain why the light on my power supply unit turned red and completely shut down the system during a gaming session. I not only have the Intercooler hooked up, but also the wireless adaptor.

  10. I can't believe anyone would actually buy that thing to begin with.
