Thread: Confessions of a Car Salesman

  1. That was an excellent read.

  2. While it was entertaining, this type of journalism is severely frowned upon in the industry. Mainly because they are betraying the trust of innocent (lol) people.

  3. Or mainly because it totally exposes them.

I know those exposed hate it, but I was talking about journalists. Many do it but a lot think it's crossing the line of responsible journalism. I can see why: you have to earn the person's trust only to betray them, sworn to secrecy, have to harbor lies and the story is usually one-sided.

Not like I'm in journalism, though. My opinion means niet.

Investigative journalism is frowned upon? Maybe in the 1800s, but Ida Tarbell and Upton Sinclaire broke that shit out, yo.

  7. I'm not talking about all of investigative journalism, I'm talking about the type of journalism where you're putting up a front to a ton of people and shit on them once you get what you need.

The way I was taught, you could observe people doing shady shit, involve yourself in the shady culture, but you can't do anything shady as well (ie., ripping people off).
