Elec razors are good because they seem to be less irritating to the skin, overall. Well, at least to my skin. Since they do not shave as close to the skin, the hairs are less likely to be "OMG LET'S CAUSE IRRITATION AND BECOME INGROWN LOL COTC!!!!!!" Or such.

I've found that the worth of an electric razor really depends on what kind of facial hair you have. If your facial hair is very straight and your skin is really clear then an electric razor is excellent for getting rid of a slight shadow. You are never going to get super smooth like you can with a razor, nor do you want to use it as a regular razor or for if your hair is longer.

However, if like me, you facial hair is at all curly or very quick growing then an electric razor is just going to tear the fuck out of your face. I have never found one that doesn't leave me sore.

If you're going to shave everday, an electric razor will work fine. I used a Remington for a long time. Like I said, it worked fine if I used it everyday. If I would go a week without shaving...well, it seemed like it just ripped the hair out of my face rather than shaving it off.

If you're looking for an electric razor, this is the one to get. Braun Activator. It doesn't get you as close as a shave as a real razor would obviously, but because of the base that automatically cleans and preps your razor, irritation is cut to a minimum, and it gets as close as you really can get with an electric.

The Norelco 7110. It's pretty fucking sweet. Quiet, shaves ultra-close, fast, easy on the skin, the heads float so the razor contours to your face, holds an 8 hour charge, and the guts are water-tight so you can pop open the top and run it under the sink to clean out all hair. Thumbs-up.

I own 2, and I've tried so many models of my friends, and I'm telling you now, if you have thick facial hair you will never, and I repeat, NEVER, get as close a shave as from an actual razor. And as far as saving time, I have to rub my electric in circles all over my face for 20 fucking minutes to make it come even close to looking like I didn't weed-whack my grill. I usually end up grabbing the blade and fixing the shit up anyway, especially on my neck (the front of my neck, thank you very much).

In summation, just man up and realize that although we hate doing it, shaving with a blade every god damn day is what must be done. I fucking want electrolysis all over my face. And my balls. Defenitley my balls.
