What was first game to have an instrument where you had to play tunes for magic spells(like in Ocarina of Time)? 1990's Loom comes to mind but there are probably earlier ones. Wonder Boy in Monster World(1991) is the oldest I can think of that specifically uses an ocarina.
The earliest I can think of, is The Bard's Tale (Apple, C-64 computers). I believe it came out in 1985.

I haven't played that series in ages so I don't remember, do you play individual notes to make the tunes like in the games I listed? I forgot to specify that.

  3. Castle Wolfenstein
I was gonna bring this up, but I wasn't sure how big the focus on stealth really was.

  4. First Star Wars based game anyone?

Ultima 5 in 1987 had you play "Stones" using the number keys.

The only thing I vividly remember about The Bard's Tale are the spinners. Fucking spinners.

No. You choose the tunes like magic spells. You hear the tune and then the magic takes effect. I can't think of any games earlier than TOOT, where you actually play the notes. I've never played LOOM.

I think the first official one was the Atari 2600 The Empire Strikes Back(1982). Some games from the late '70s ripped off the name and themes though.

    Stealth was pretty much everything.

That was my first game (except pac-man) <3

  10. Interesting topic..... of course, my mind is in the gutter so I have to ask, what is the first pornographic game? I remember those 2600 games like Porky's or Custard's Revenge, but I figure there must be games even earlier than that. Maybe Porn Zork called Pork?
