Thread: Oh lords of the circuit board, your expertise is needed

  1. Oh lords of the circuit board, your expertise is needed

The thread description says it all. I've gotten a hair up my ass about playing my DC on my HDTV and there are no vga ports on the back, so my only other option would be to find a way to get the DC some kind of Component cables.

Any info would be greatly appreciated as I'm sick of playing DC titles via the regular a/v combo; which makes them look like ass on my tv

  2. A quick search with google, came up with these gems. I might get one as well.

    This one is only $9!

  3. So that entails getting a VGA box for the DC, then plugging in said VGA~Component converter...and that's all kinds of awesome, but how do I go about getting sound out of the converter(since it only comes with the standard RGB inputs)?

  4. The DC VGA box has separate audio outs.

At least mine did. Then I lost it.

Yeah, what Josh said, my VGA box (official Sega) has both a headphone out and RCA out, so any standard cable will work.

I'm really interested in how it looks though, if anyone tries this we need to know how it looks ASAP. Where's Cheebs when you need him?

  6. i've tried this setup before.. it doesn't work because the VGA to component cables don't convert the output correctly.

sorry to shit on the party..

but if anyone out there knows the solution for DC VGA --> component, by all means, let us in on the secret.
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

  7. From what I read, the only real way is to use the DC VGA box, and then hooking it up to a VGA to component transcoder that will convert the VGA signal to a component one. Simple VGA to component wires won't work.

Here's a forum thread that discusses it a little. It's from like... 5 years ago though.

If the box in the discussion is anything like this; I'm happy with the good old VGA monitor.

I asked about this issue on the DC Gamefaqs board a few months ago for the same reason as the TC. I got a new HDTV without a VGA-in port and had no intentions of playing my DC through composite or S-Video. All recommendations pointed me to the device in the above link.

gamevet, do you have experience with it and it sucks? Or do you just not like the price? I was put off by the price, myself, but people swore you could get 'em for ~$50 on ebay if you're patient.
