Thread: Christmas Gifts

  1. I hate having to think of shit to give people. My GF wants a Treo, so that's what she's getting, and it's almost like I'm buying myself a computer too, since she won't be on mine checking email 4723894732098743298 times a night. My mom bitched about her coffeemaker, so bam, that's what she's getting. My dad bitches that he's poor, so he's getting money. Along with my brother and 7806 cousins. Seriously, if you give someone something that isn't money, and they aren't fruity like a girlfriend, you just got someone an unnecessarily bad gift.

  2. I'm going the impersonal route for my sister/brother-in-law, brother/sister-in-law.

Black & Decker Simple Start Battery Booster

    Black & Decker portable inflator

    Wind-up Flashlight/Radio/Cell phone charger combo

Some fairly practical things that lots of people don't think to buy for themselves but that are good to have.

I wouldn't mind some Wii Points cards for christmas.

I'm surprised you're having a hard time finding them Mark, every store here has them. The Wii accessory aisles are bare except for Wii Points cards and Gloves, since most people (including myself) usually just buys them with a credit card directly through the Wii. I would say I would send you one, but shipping would be a bitch since I'd have to use 2nd day air to get it to you on time.

Yeah, no biggie--I went to a store and was able to find one today (I believe they got in new Wii supplies over the weekend), though I think it was the last one >_<

Yes and yes. I had to train my family for years to start giving me money because my mom was the only one that would ask me what I want and then give it to me.

Whenever I try to think of stuff to get other people I always end up just wandering stores for hours totally lost, then when I ask people what they want they tell me to think of something myself. Congratulations, you now get a bar of soap.

I'm giving my family burned CDs of music I know they won't like.

Example: My 86 year old grandfather is getting "Calculating Infinity" by the Dillinger Escape Plan.

    Fuck Christmas.

  9. I found a good mom gift. The Kapoosh Knife block at Bed Bath & Beyond for $30. My family has lots of random kitchen knives all sitting in a drawer. The block is made so you can shove any variety of knives in and it holds them as if it was made for them.

I got my bro an indoor mini RC helicopter which is pretty sweet. $30 at TRU

  10. I usually try to get people something in the genre they like, but wouldn't have bought on their own.

Example: Atlas likes Brit-pop a lot, so I got her the newest Head Automatica CD for her birthday. She never would have bought that.
    Boo, Hiss.
