    So they should give away the digital versions to people who didn't buy the UMDs for free?

  2. You really think that many people are going to trade UMDs around? Just stop selling UMDs and go all digital for ALL psps. Most stores only carry like 20 games anyways. Hell most games I own I dont think I can find at retail anymore. I doubt their making any money off old games as it is.

    Who would buy a PSPGo? People that love PSP games already. No one that doesn't have a Go is going to spend more money for a Go. But the hardcore fans that have a PSP will lose a lot of their game catalog (most PSP titles won't even be on the store). So they will stick with their old PSP.

    I just hope I don't somehow get tempted to buy one. I love getting new gadgets.

    I kind of hope it comes soon, and that it has a screen that is worth a damn. I'd like to upgrade from my PSP-1000, but I'm torn between the Go and the old-school style. I hate UMD, and want them out of my life, but I have a crapton of them (thanks to work), and while I'd love to go all digital, making that move would cost a lot of money. Plus, I've got a few games that just won't be possible digitally without hassle (imports), and while I do really like the overall style and feel of the Go, there's something about that old PSP look that has a certain charm.

    Give me a white PSP-4000 with a non-shitty screen, and I'll be happy. Oh, and while we're at it, why can't Sony do like Microsoft did with the Xbox 360? Let me rip my UMDs to memory stick, to help with loading and battery life, but require that the game's UMD be in there if I do that.

    Why? If they haven't bought one yet, they're not thrilled with paying 150 dollars for access to the entire catalog. Why would they pay 100 dollars more for access to much less of it? Especially considering the games on the Go are more expensive than the used shit at Gamestop that they would buy.

    I agree with this. Ripping your UMDs to memory stick should have been put in place a long time ago. It's the reason I stuck custom firmware on my 1000. I like having my few games all on one memory stick and being able to take essentially all of them with me when I am away from home.

    That will never happen on any platform, if you're talking about the same games, because it would cause riots among the retailers.

    Not going to happen. Look at Microsoft's pricing on the 360 titles that they have up for digital download.

    Well, okay... maybe I don't know why. *laughs*

    I guess what I would say is that, if I were thinking from a more "casual" type of gamer, the PSP Go would appeal to me more than the standard PSP. It's smaller, easier to carry around, and it doesn't scream "gaming system" like the standard PSP does. I would also think that I've come to enjoy the convenience of buying stuff digitally, from my music via iTunes or apps and games on my iPhone, and though the reality is both PSPs can play the exact same downloaded games, the Go puts off the perception of being far more tailored for doing so.

    I think that, if you currently own no PSP library and thus don't have that need to support what you've already got, the Go is the better hardware. It's smaller, more compact, the controls and control placement are better. Screen is way better than the PSP-3000. There are going to be enough games up for download that your average gamer probably is going to have more than enough to find to play.

    I was really skeptical of the Go until I got my hands on it at E3, and after that I thought it was a nice little machine. I think most of the problem stems from it's price. At the price level it's at now, it needs to have a touchscreen and other functions to better justify itself. Had it been, say, $199 or less, it would make far more sense in regards to what it is now.

    If I didn't own a PSP and games already, and I was going out tomorrow to get a PSP just to have something to play stuff on on the go (and not because I had a specific list of games that I want), I'd want the Go. I'd hate the price, but the Go would be the better device considering the device itself that I'd be carrying around.
