Yeah, I held off on posting info about this because Strider hasn't read up to this point, but if we're going to do it ...

    Marvel press release:

There is no more Fantastic Four, so just what is the FF? This March, the creative team of Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting present the over-sized FF #1, introducing the biggest new super hero team of the century! After the death of The Human Torch, the surviving members of the Fantastic Four—Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman and The Thing—join with Spider-Man and some top secret members to form an unstoppable force: The Future Foundation. Their mission is simple: Save the Marvel Universe from its greatest threats and prevent future dangers from arising. But even with knowledge of what’s to come and one of the most powerful teams ever assembled, just what villainous force could stand in their way?

“FF will alter the very fabric of the Marvel Universe,” explained Tom Brevoort, Senior Vice President of Publishing. “Jonathan and Steve have crafted a unique, powerful new series that’s going to surprise a lot of fans with its combination of mind-blowing ideas and visuals.”

The perfect jumping on point for new readers, FF #1 begins a battle for the future of the Marvel Universe unlike anything you’ve ever seen before and no fan can afford to miss it!

  2. So they're canceling and rebooting the series again? What's that, like 3 times in the last decade already?

  3. Basically it's just a name change, it's still a continuation of what Hickman was doing (he's already established the Future Foundation for a while now). Think Grant Morrison on Batman as an example.

This isn't like Heroes Reborn or Heroes Return, which I believe you are referring to.

Heh, it's all good. I got the whole run aside from the stuff that'll make up the 3rd trade. It's pretty damn good, I'll keep reading.
    -Kyo

  5. I recently read the first arc of Uncanny X-Force (#1-4).

Not thought-provoking in any way, but as an enjoyable romp it's a home run. An X-Book no less.

I read some of Remender's Punisher stuff, but it wasn't as good as this. And Jerome Opeņa's art was great.

  6. I'm reading through Knightfall, lol.
I'll never understand DC's love of putting mediocre writers and artists on their most popular characters in the early 90's. 70's Jim Aparo was decent. 90's Aparo is awful. Don't get me started on Graham Nolan and Mike Manley.

As horrendous and laughable as it is, it's at least keeping my attention. RIP didn't achieve that.

  7. Knightfall is way cooler than RIP.

Marvel used to pull the same shit with a lot of their books. Tons of Wolverine and Spider-Man shit from that era is over-the-borderline unreadable; I guess the idea was that it was going to sell the same numbers based on the name on the cover, regardless of who was drawing the thing, so why bother? Hell, it worked, I've got stacks of that crap back home --just like everybody else.

Numbers went down, I guess they had to boost the quality and actually treat their flagship titles like flagship titles.

  8. Love em or hate em, at least Image proved that creators could sell as many books based on their name as a property would based on it's name.
Holy fuckballs, I gotta buy the trade of

  10. You can get the TPB from amazon for as little as $6.50 shipped. I highly encourage you to do so. I'd go so far as to say I'll pay you back what it cost if you don't like it. I say that knowing that we agree rarely but that's how much confidence I have in this.
I read this around the same time I was reading Hepcats and Strange Haven. It was my favorite, but then it just disappeared.
