Thread: The Weekly Comics Grind

  1. I loved Elektra Assassin.

I still have all the single issues somewhere. haha
look here, upon a sig graveyard.

  2. For people who don't know Dick Grayson has his identity as Nightwing revealed to the world by the Crime Syndicate during Forever Evil, it's during this he's also killed and revived. They want to let the rest of the world and characters think that Grayson is still dead and are having him be a "hero" in a different way.

There's no point in getting attached to a book when the team making it special will quit in 6-8 months.

Snyder and Cappullo on Batman going 30 issues now, Tomasi on Batman and... going on 30 issues now. Gail Simone on Batgirl going on 30 issues now, Azzarello and Chiang on Wonder Woman going on 30 issues now (granted their run is almost done), Johns was on Aquaman for 25 issues, on JL going on 30 issues now, his Green Lantern run while ending at issue 20 of the N52 is actually measured in years total. Hell the entire GL team went a good few years on their representitive books. Manapul and Buccellato's Flash run lasts 30 issues, and now they're taking over Detective Comics. Lemire I believe has had Animal Man for the books entire run in the N52, and he's the ongoing for Green Arrow since issue 17, along with doing about 15 issues of Justice League Dark. Most of the creative team changes have been for books that weren't working outside of a few titles. It's a shame to have lost Williams and Blackman on Batwoman, but the last 6 months or so of their run was just dawdling anyway. Granted that was a stupid editorial choice by DC, characters should be allowed to be happy.

No things aren't perfect with DC editorial and I wish they would get rid of Didio, and the dude who was a big editor at Marvel during the 90s (forget his name). That said though you make it sound like it's a revolving door of creative teams across the board, and that's just not the truth at all. Most books have a stable creative team, and most of the ones that got changed did so because they weren't working.

  3. Bob Harras.

  4. That's Harras, not Harris.

Which is essentially what Marvel did with Bucky last year. So stupid.

  7. I've been hearing good things about Pak's run on Action. I'm ready to drop it at a moment's notice, but for now, I've got to say I really enjoyed his first issue. Technically it's a crossover with some Batman thing I'll never care about, but it's a self-contained story with no knowledge of the rest of the DCU required. I'll just try to enjoy the ride until it crashes and burns.

I liked Animal Man for a few issues until it became obvious the book was the other half of Swamp Thing. I don't care about Swamp Thing, so I dropped Animal Man. With that, Morrison's run on Action turning into crap, Supergirl #1's excellent cover sitting on a comic of pure crap, creator churn on the smaller titles, and some highly questionable character redesigns (Harley Quinn, Starfire, and now Wonder Girl), DC has been almost completely uninteresting to me for a while. There's been no reason to even want to try to like them with Image putting out so much excellent stuff and Marvel having a couple good books as well.

  8. Has Swamp Thing been collected into trades? I'd like to read it, but I don't buy individual comics anymore.

  9. Put "Swamp Thing Trades" in google or amazon and you'll get your answer.

  10. Got to meet Brandon Graham, Robin McConnell and Simon Roy yesterday on their Inkstuds tour. Great dudes! Brandon Graham is exactly as cool as he seems through his work.
