  5. LOL @ nerd cred, but the achievement points system is brilliant. I can't imagine playing games on a system without leaderboards and achievement points from this point forward.

It's also something no one really understands until they have their own 360 and friends list. The achievements just give you many, many different ways to beat or full-clear a game, so for high score fiends or completionists, it's a dream.

    But... but...

  7. This really is the old arcade mentality. People would play the same levels over and over again, to get the highest score on a game in the arcade. It was nothing more than boasting rights, because most arcade games of the day had very limited levels.

Hopefully, developers will start using these points as more than just bragging rights. EA did a cool thing on the Xbox (Not sure if they did it with the PS2), where an EA game would recognise game saves from other EA games on the XBox and you'd automatically get special features in a game.

    Wow, what originality.

It's not at all like things that Konami did with MGS on the PS. Nope. And I'll bet someone before Konami did it too...

And game achievements are bragging points and should stay that. I don't want some company forcing me to grind points in shitty ass games just to get something I want.

I'd hope that they'd be more than that though. Even MS has told developers to use it in games, so why not make it more beneficial to the gamers, than just bragging rights? How about MS use it for hard core gamers, to cash in on the arcade downloads?
