Totally. They are fun for someone who just wants to run OSX and basic computer usage, but I have had some pretty poor performance issues running VMWare on a hackintosh. I gave it the ol' college try about a year or so ago but it just wasn't reliable enough.

Ended up ordering a 13" 2.0ghz, 256gb, 8gb RAM Macbook Air, should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm actually really excited now that I ordered it to have a laptop this portable now, like really really excited. Should easily have enough power to do anything work related that doesn't involve video work and I can fall back on my Macbook Pro for that once I get it.

What netbooks are you looking at? It was $1400 after a student discount and a gift receipt I had.

Im a dunce. I didnt even look at the abbreviations after the numbers and thought it was 256 megs ram and 8 gig hd. That in conjuction with the 13" screen made it seem netbooky.

Ah, I was going to say. Most netbooks have Atom processors in them too, which are shit. I would have gone with a cheaper ultrabook if I didn't need to have OSX but unfortunately I don't have that option.

Yea, to say nothing of the universally terrible build quality. I hate netbooks.

Are ultrabooks even that much cheaper than MBAs? Last time I looked they were around the same price or even more expensive. I understand that the manufacturers have put their own "spin" on ultrabooks to the point where the term has lost all meaning (just like what they did to netbooks), so I suppose there would be cheaper ones. I'm referring to the ones most like MBAs, not the ones that pair a 32gig SSD with a 5400rpm drive or some such.

I honestly didn't even look into them because they weren't an option, I've seen prices around $800 - $900 thrown around, but who knows after customizations if those still hold up.
