The interface on the Touch for music is a huge step up from the regular iPod. Go to an Apple Store and try it out.

As to what you should do, 95% of people moved on from the old iPods.

  2. The podcasts app is straight up garbage.

    wat?

  4. It's so bad. Never auto downloads like it's supposed to or follows any of the rules it lets you set for keeping/deleting old files. It also loves to randomly refuse to stream over 3g when the connection is clearly working.

Also for the longest time it had the hilarious bug that always resumed playback of any paused podcast whenever you finished a phone call, which they finally fixed with the last update.

I've never had any of those issues. I don't use the streaming feature though. I set up all the podcast rules in iTunes, and it follows them just fine.

    Maybe I'm the exception.

  6. It's an first-party App with a 1.5 star average on the Appstore.

I think that says a lot.

I had the back of my iPhone 4S crack and I was able to get the screen fixed at an Apple Store for $20 with no plan through them. I find that to be very reasonable if you opted to not pay for the plan. That was the iphone though, so I am not sure how it would work for the iPod Touch.

  8. The nice thing about the iPod classic is that you can install custom firmware that gives you direct and complete access to your music and files from any computer, and allows you to play a wider variety of audio formats, like FLAC.
If none of that appeals to you, and you don't need that much storage, then just go with the new touch.

You can jailbreak it and I think there are apps that let you play more formats. I'm not totally sure.

Also, apple lossless isn't a bad alternative to flac.

  10. Thanks for the help guys.
