  1. Snow Leopard was a cool OS but the boner that hardcore Apple fans have for it isn't justified. Lion had its fair share of problems but Mountain Lion resolved them.

    On topic, I made a bootable thumbdrive with mountain lion on it so I can wipe my computer and reinstall like it was Windows XP. This will be tonight's exciting activity.

    Is there a limit to how many external usb drives I should be hooking up at once? Things are about to get ridiculous over here.

    Apple is apparently looking to launch an Ultra TV, possibly even by year end. I am at least interested in a potential Apple TV from a curiosity standpoint, but I don't understand the need for higher resolutions in home applications at all. Can you imagine the price of bleeding edge tech in concert with the Apple tax?

    Computer monitor and future proofing. They'll also announce a something or other to go along with it in attempts to justify the resolution.

    Mountain Lion is good. For me, it's not so much Snow Leopard as it is Snow Leopard Server. It's vastly superior to 10.7/10.8 server just all around for what I need it to do. The simplified interface just doesn't cut it. I use 10.8 on my iMac and Air with no problems.

    Side question: Does anyone actually use Notifications in 10.8? I accidentally drag and pull the tray over from time to time, reminding me that it's a feature.

    I like the pop up message notifications. I don't use it for much of anything else.

    Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto is free, and does exactly what it's supposed to do. Recommended if your photo library is a lazy mess like mine.

    I'm strongly considering an iPad for the first time, but my timing sucks, as we're right in the middle of generations. I know we have people with 3rd and 4th generation iPads as well as iPad Minis. For anyone who has used an earlier version and then upgraded to the 4th gen with the Retina display, how significant is that improvement? Also, for anyone with a Mini, is the screen large enough to do everything you'd like to do? I'm largely planning to use this to read digital versions of magazines and comic books, along with the odd HD version of or exclusive games. Based purely on what I can glean from various internet sources, I think my best bet would be to wait for a Mini with a Retina display in the fall, but I want to test that hypothesis.
